Gatley Hill Allotment Society (GHAS) Tenancy Agreement 2025

Terms of this sub-tenancy-
This tenancy is for the above plot/s and will run annually from 1st January. The tenancy will roll-over annually and is in accordance with the Allotments Act 1950. This tenancy is for the plot-holder named above and cannot be sub-let.
 
Rent and fees-
The rent and fees are payable before the end of January each year. These will be reviewed annually and reasonable notice will be given of any changes. Rent and fees must be paid to the appointed Treasurer of the Society. Membership of the national and local associations is a compulsory condition of this tenancy. If you have a leisure key then this allows the reduction of the rent element of the fees by 50%.
 
Keys-
A refundable key deposit of £20 is payable by all new tenants. Any lost or extra keys must be obtained by payment of a similar deposit.
 
Termination-
Termination of the Tenancy will be served by GHAS by email or in writing to the above address giving one months’ notice. This will happen should there be no or inadequate responses to reasonable requests from representatives of the GHAS Committee over a period of at least 1 month. At the end of the notice period all items left on the plot will be disposed by GHAS. There may be a charge for disposal.
 
Notice-
You may give one calendar months’ notice by email or in person in writing to any Committee Member. Fees including insurance and association fees are non-refundable. Key deposits are refundable upon return of all keys.
 
Rules-
You and any guests you invite onto the allotments must abide by the GHAS Allotment Rules and you are responsible for their actions. The rules will be reviewed annually and revisions sent by email to the above email address. Severe breaches of the rules may result in a termination notice being served.
 
Behaviour-
You and your visitors must not harass, intimidate, cause nuisance or annoyance to the other plot-holders, their visitors or members of the public. You are responsible for the behaviour of your visitors and their pets and any damage they may cause.
 
Plot-
  • You must keep your plot, including paths, in reasonable condition.
  • You must not obstruct communal paths and roadway.
  • The erection of structures, sheds and greenhouses is by permission only. Applications for the erecting of structures, sheds and greenhouses must be made in writing to the committee.
  • You must allow free access to the plot and any structures on the plot to members of the committee on receipt of reasonable notice of no less than 24 hours.
  • You must contact the committee if you want to plant trees. All trees must be planted at least 1m from any boundary fence or path.
  • Any non-compostable material should be removed from the plot, including broken glass.
  • No livestock is allowed on the site.
  • All dogs must be on leads and under control and any excrement removed.
  • Access to the site can only be obtained through the main gates (unless by specific permission from a committee member). Gates must be locked after you if found in a locked state.
  • No fires are allowed on a plot.
  • You must not sell any goods, run a business or make a profit from the plot.
 
Complaints-
Complaints will be taken seriously and investigated. All complaints should be made by email to the GHAS address or in writing via any member of the committee.
 
Policies-
A copy of equal opportunities, diversity, child protection, social and environmental policies will be available on request and displayed on the notice board.
 
 
Declaration
 
  • I agree to keep to all the conditions in this tenancy.
  • I agree that I have read and agree to follow the rules and constitution of the site.
  • I agree that under the General Data Protection Act 2018 I give permission for members of the GHAS committee to access my details solely for purposes of circulating information and general running of the society. Upon leaving the allotment association I understand that my details will be deleted from all records once any outstanding payments have been received and keys have been returned, within ten working days.
